FENNEL

Updated: Jan 11, 2023

Fennel - a tri-dosha wonder herb. The fresh bulb, the seeds and the powder can be of such benefit to the body and mind. Fennel seeds are a good source of Vitamins B3 and C, Potassium, Magnesium, Manganese and Iron. In addition to providing dietary fibre and a powerful hit of antioxidants.

Fennel seeds are used particularly in settling the tummy after eating and a number 1 go-to for conditions like colic and wind build-up in the system. Fennel seeds ignite the digestive fire and eliminates toxins or Ama, without aggravating the Pitta dosha.

Fennel seed tea is magic for little bubbas with sore tums and colic-like symptoms. As an additional bonus, if breastfeeding mothers drink the tea it will help to purify and assist a healthy flow of milk. ⁣

Fennel also alleviates the pain felt for many women before, whilst and after menstruation . In addition, this Sattvic herb refreshes and sharpens the mind, benefits the eyes, clears congestion from the chest and also is the ultimate breath freshener.

I would highly recommend you grab some seeds or a fresh bulb, if in season, at your local supermarket and have them a part of your daily spice and vegetable usage.
