Licorice root is a key Ayurvedic medicine in healing voice loss. Its sweet, nourishing nature is used classically to aid in the treatment of not only voice loss, but also sore throats and coughs. Having been raised by a teacher, I used to watch my Mum suffer often with a hoarse or missing voice due to daily strain on her vocal cords. A hoarse voice can be a nuisance, and at worst, sore and debilitating to your daily living. This simple Ayurvedic home remedy will give relief and healing benefit to voice loss, but as always, please seek the guidance of your Ayurvedic physician or chosen health care professional before commencing any home remedy supports.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
1 1/2 cup milk (organic cow's milk or almond milk are optimum choices)
1/2 tsp licorice root powder
Put the milk and licorice root powder in a small saucepan and on the stove.
Bring to a boil then reduce immediately to a simmer for 2-5 minutes until the milk has reduced to approximately 1 cup.
Serve and slowly sip while warm.
Consume this drink 1-2 x daily until symptoms reduce.
