Sensitive teeth and nerve pain is a common ailment, and one Ayurveda can help to treat using the powerful healing properties of clove oil.
Clove oil in Ayurveda is used for pain relief related to nerve conditions, particularly for toothaches and general tooth sensitivity connected to temperature and pressure. However, clove oil can also be used to relieve headaches, back pain and arthritic joint stiffness too - a very handy product to have in your medicine cabinet! Remember when applying an essential oil to the skin, always use a carrier oil in combination to avoid aggravation of the area. As a general rule, use one drop of essential oil per 1 teaspoon of carrier oil. Sesame oil is an optimum warming oil choice as a carrier and coconut oil for a cooling choice.
To bring relief to a toothache, directly apply clove oil to the tooth, covering all over. Do this 2-3 x daily until symptoms reduce. For conditions with infection to the tooth or gums, in addition to sensitivity and pain, please see your dentist for further guidance and treatment.
For all-over tooth sensitivity, you can apply a drop of clove oil directly to your toothpaste each time you brush. This will pacify general sensitivity and pain on a day to day level. Alternatively, there are natural toothpastes with clove oil added for this very purpose.
