Dairy yoghurts are delicious and have great nutritional value. Problem is, being a fermented product and if eaten incorrectly, dairy yoghurt can cause major acidic and inflammation overload in your system. In particular, if you are a Pitta/Kapha dominated constitution or living in a warm to hot climate.
WHAT TO DO
Please either decrease or completely stop eating dairy yoghurts with other foods, especially fruit (so please no more fruit yoghurts!!) or other animal proteins (for example, yoghurt marinated chicken for the Summer bbq).
If you really love yoghurt like I do, coconut yoghurt is an amazing alternative and in my opinion, so much tastier. It’s ultra creamy, easy to digest with sweet and cooling properties to actually heal an inflamed GIT instead of aggravate it. A perfect Summer snack.
Like everything however, only eat in moderation and not every day. Keep your diet diverse and expansive - your body will thank you for it.
