Mmmm... green tea....
This astringent, wonderfully light tea is known worldwide for its diversity of forms and medicinal benefits. Green tea is deeply Kapha pacifying, making it a beneficial beverage choice for the cold and damp season of Winter.
Green tea is drying in nature, thereby assisting to eliminate congestion, sluggish appetite and excess fluid or oedema from the system. It also helps to drop those pesky excess kilos, benefits the cardiac system and regulates blood sugar levels.
However, it is important to keep in mind that green tea should be taken in moderation - 1 or 2 cups a day max. This tea while Kapha reducing can when used in excess, escalate Kapha’s opposite, Vata. If you are prone to constipation, bloating, dry skin, body pain, anxiety and erratic appetite, green tea can exacerbate these symptoms.
